This album features C.P.E. Bach’s 6 Hamburg Symphonies for Strings and Basso continuo, Wq. 182 the freedom and commitment to innovation: Kühn in formal aspects, in harmony and emotion and with highest demands on the performers. The Hamburg ensemble represents a new generation of musicians: they span from traditional to contemporary and represent innovative and vibrant programs between old and new music. Instead of using one conductor, musicians have the opportunity to work with conducters Jean-Guihen and Tabea Zimmermann. In October 2014, the ensemble opened in a bunker in Hamburg the “resonance space”: to promote a new version of classical music that combined the music with club culture. This ensemble is dedicated to performing Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s works.
